Shri.DharmendraPradhan, Hon’bleMinister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship is driving a ship towards a gas based economy which requires augmenting domestic production as well as imports and adequate investments in natural gas infrastructure including pipelines, natural gas import terminal and city gas distribution network which is a focus area of the Indian government.
GAIL India Ltd’s first ever chartered LNG vessel arrived at Dabhol, Gujarat on 30th March 2018 from USA under a long term deal thus creating a historic milestone in Indo-US strategic energy relations. Another landmark was set on 4th June 2018 when the first LNG cargo arrived under the long term contract between GAIL India Ltd. and Gazprom Marketing and Trading of Russia at the LNG terminal of Petronet LNG Ltd. in Dahej, Gujarat.
Effective renegotiation of LNG contracts led by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas with RasGas , Qatar in December 2015 led to saving of about Rs. 10,000 crore.
