Poland is about to introduce new regulations in order to support its budding shale gas industry. According to the officials, in accordance to new business friendly regulations; Poland is expecting 30 new shale gas drillings sites this year. 50 wells have been drilled in the recent past, producing mix results.
The new regulations have been drafted under the supervision of environment minister Maciej Grabowski who took charge in December 2013. The reshuffle was done because of the difficulties faced by polish government in an attempt at mandating cooperation in the sector. Many of the big names including ExxonMobil, Marathon oil and Talisman oil have already withdrew their presence from the country in the previous year.
The new drilling sites would also create an efficient domestic market and would cut down nation’s reliance on gas imports from Russia.
