The Mirage is one of the most prime attractions in Las vegas. This ultra luxurious hotel and casino is in the heart of the city. Whether its a sporting event or a hollywood celebration, The Mirage is the place to be. The Mirage is an expensive hotel-casino and took around 630 million USD to build in the heart of Vegas.
Apart from various signature attractions, like the dolphin habitat, the secret garden the most prominent attraction is their man-made Volcano right at the entrance. The intriguing structure has been there since the very beginning of the grand hotel.
This man-made volcano erupts every night beginning at 7:00 pm and runs every hour until 11:00 pm. Flames and smoke shoot up towering up to 100 feet in the air. This Volcano is a spectacular show of around 3000 lights that are computerized to depict lava flowing from the volcano. If you are standing on the sidewalk, you could actually feel the volcano emit heat.
What is interesting is that this man-made volcano erupts on NATURAL GAS!! For the natural gas used in the phenomena, “mercaptan” an odorant of un-combusted natural gas is removed and pina-colada aroma is added to it. This Volcano is the most amazing, cheap and fragrant show in Vegas. Each time it erupts, in its history of 15 years, it has always received an awe from its spectators. The incredible show which fires up nightly shouldn’t just be perceived as an entertainment extravaganza but should inspire the usage of natural gas for various purposes diverse and unique!
