Don’t FUSS, Ride the BUS!

India is witnessing a huge proportion of road transport which being catalysed by the industrial development. This is leading towards an unsustainable conditions of living . Compared to the personal transport users , transit users spend from about Rs 1,25,000 to Rs 5,00,000 per year for travel which is much less than the usual cost of a car.

Under stated public transport has proved to be at better mode to commute compared to other personal mode of communication (like cars , bikes etc ) in all aspects from economic growth , environment conservation , resource security to health benefits . A study estimates Rs 200 to Rs 250 increase in business revenues for every rupee invested in transit. Transit can help restore community by bringing people out of isolation and provide a time for interaction with one another. Unlike freeways, public transportation encourages compact development and planned growth. This also saves money , energy and cuts carbon foot print.

Leading example of  Oil Minister Dr. Veerappa Moily to travel by public transport every Wednesday as part of the fuel conservation drive to save USD 5 billion in oil import bill has inspired towards adaptation of public transport and laid the base for mutual courtesy.

If one choice can make so much difference then it is worth a thought and to be adopted to steer India towards #energysecureindia.
