GAIL hosts the GRI India’s ‘Hands on workshop on Learning from GRI G4 Reports in India’ on 10th Dec 2014

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a leading organisation in the field of sustainability. Headquartered at Amsterdam, the GRI works with the vision of a sustainable global economy where organisations manage their economic, environmental, social and governance performance and impacts responsibly, and report transparently. ​The GRI Focal Point India provides guidance and support to local organisations, driving GRI’s mission in India.
GAIL became the proud host of the GRI India’s ‘Hands on workshop on Learning from GRI G4 Reports in India’ on 10th December, 2014 at GAIL Corporate Office, New Delhi
The Welcome Address was delivered by Sh. M. Ravindran, Director (HR). In addition to highlighting GAIL’s sustainability perspective, he also focused on preparing for the G4 guidelines that drive greater attention to Materiality and Supply chain management. This was followed by a short presentation on GAIL’s Sustainability initiatives by Sustainability team.
The workshop began with the presentation from Dr. Aditi Haldar, Head & Director, GRI Focal Point India, on the main features of the GRI G4 guidelines. The workshop had speakers from organisations such as Infosys, ACC, Yes Bank, BSI Group, DNV among others. Since the organisations have been pioneers and early adopters of GRI G4 Sustainability Reporting, it was an immense learning experience for GAIL which is gearing up for the reporting in accordance with GRI G4 guidelines for FY 14-15.
The workshop was interactive and well attended by executives representing from organisations such as Vodafone, BPCL, NTPC, BHEL, TERI, Asian Paints, Mother Diary, Havells among others.
GAIL as one of the exclusive members of the GRI Focal Point India Sustainability & Transparency Consortium hosted the Workshop which was of high prestige value to GAIL, giving a platform to showcase itself as an organisation committed to the cause of sustainability and also avail a platform to gain from the experience of GRI G4 early adopters. Last year, GAIL had also hosted the launch of the GRI G4 Guidelines in India.

In addition to the workshop, the GRI Advisory Committee Meeting was held at GAIL Corporate Office on 11th December, 2014. The session was chaired by Sh. Bhaskar Chatterjee, DG IICA. A presentation on Global Strategy of GRI by delivered by Dr. Alyson Slater, Director Regional Network and Sustainable Development, GRI and Update and way forward of GRI Focal Point India by Dr. Aditi Haldar. The Committee has representation from GAIL, BSI, TCS, CII and DNV among others.
