GAIL (India) Limited personally distributed compensation amount to all the affected families. In this difficult hour, we are making every effort to rehabilitate the affected and will spare no efforts to support and help the community get back on its feet. GAIL India has taken the initiative to build permanent houses for the affected families of the village. The compensation which included Rs. 20 lakhs to the next of kin of each of deceased person, Rs 5 lakh as Fixed Deposit to each permanently disabled person and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured totaling to Rs. 3.89 crore was handed over to the beneficiaries. In addition, the company will also adopt the Nagaram village and endeavor to make it a model village.
In its 30 years of operations as the country’s leading gas Transmission Company with a gas pipeline network of over 11,000 kms, GAIL had established an impeccable record of incident free operations, with respect to communities residing near its installations. The incident at Tatipaka-Kondapalli pipeline is the first time that GAIL (India) Ltd. has had to grapple with a tragedy of this magnitude. GAIL India is deeply concerned about the tragic loss and will always stand up for the society.

GAIL family stands united in this need of hour. The prompt steps taken for rehabilitation of the affected by GAIL are indeed commendable. However this tragic incident provides us the opportunity to introspect to make our system & practices more safe and healthy to avoid any such occurrences in the future.

This is indeed very Tragic incident.
GAIL, a Corporate with Social Responsibilty has taken , timely and effective relief and rehabilitation measures. GAIL has always reamined committed and caring towards our society.
GAIL IS ONLY COMPANY WHICH HAS GIVEN IMMEDIATE HAND SOME COMPENSATION AS WELL AS ARRANGED TEMPORARY SHELTER TO THE AFFECTED FAMILIES
WELL DONE GAIL. EXCELLENT AND PROMPT ACTION TAKEN BY GAIL TO HELP THE VICTIMS.
GAIL has done an excellent job in all ways and means to caretake the victims and to the entire village for speedy recovery from the untoward incident. We deeply regret. It is a great lesson to learn and apply stringent safety measures in GAIL activites.
The steps taken by GAIL shows its commitment towards the society at large and the affected populace in particular. Would go a long way in setting the standards of Social Responsibility by Corporates in India.
In this hour of crisis, may Almighty give the strength to the affected family members. My family joins me in offering our moral support by giving one day salary for this noble cause.
Let us start a internal qualitative exercise for safety so that such happening may not occur i.e. zero tolerance.

As part of CSR, GAIL has been taking initiatives for spending 5% of amount of profit gained every year for its intervention in social development enroute of KG Basin & VSPL and down trend people in Andhra Pradesh. For example, the then District Collector Visakhapatnam Shri Sheshadri lauded the role of GAIL for such noble cause especially for persons with spinal cord injury and Locomotor disabilities and also thanked GAIL for extending financial support for such programmes and also impressed upon GAIL’s commitment towards society development through such sustainable programmes under CSR Policy and assured full support for such cause. GAIL once again taking proactive approach towards making Nagaram Village as a Model Village in East Godavari District in AP after the recent casualty under the leadership of GAIL’s Hon’ble CMD Shri B C Tripathi which will help to retrospect the GAIL’s Commitment and in turn GAIL can regain its image.
Besides the fact that we are working in Petroleum Industry which is one of the most sensitive and hazardous industry, GAIL had a preeminent track record of incident free operations.

GAIL, being a true Corporate Citizen, timely and effectively undertook the task of rescue, relief and rehabilitation along with providing adequate compensation to the victims. This shows how committed and caring we are towards our society. This is really a commendable and responsible step.
Although its a very tragic incident and a great loss to the families of victims also a heavy loss to GAIL India Ltd & Nation. but GAIL has taken full social responsibility in extending help to victims and their families and tried hard to put their life back on track.

The step to adopt the village and turn it into a model village is a commendable step taken by GAIL management. No amount of measures, can make up for the loss of human lives in this tragic event, but the relief measures and the commitment from GAIL to re-establish what is lost will help to revive GAIL’s reputation and commitment towards CSR.
Strong steps are required to make “safety” as the pivotal point in further engagements as one such incidence is enough to learn the crucial lesson for a lifetime.
Innocent people have got effected and GAIL stood with them by extending a hole hearted support with all the commitment, as it is evident that the distribution of money and support is bieng taken care by GAIL itself (avoiding the middle man and other administrations) in ensuring the help to reach the effected. GAIL, has a history and live international and world class safety systems in place in its operation of pipeline through out the country, this is first such unfortunate incidence we as a employee seen, since from the beginning of the GAIL. For which GAIL is leaving no stone un turned to help the entire effected village, which is also a unique example in the country and oil gas industry , otherwise such fire incidence are taking place in hydrocarbon industry , we have not seen any company taking such actions of help on humanitarian grounds.
GAIL has always contributed to society .Villages development , health ,education and welfare activities were always on the top priority in CSR planning .Therefore there is no question in being prompt ahead to overcome in case of any tragic situation . GAIL was there for the society ,GAIL is there for the society.
In the hour of crisis, GAIL has done a very marvelous job by extending its support to the families of deceased. This PSU has proved that it is always taking care of its social responsible towards the society and the nation as well.

Nothing can be a substitute for the tragic loss of life, but help extended by GAIL shall certainly enable the affected families to bring the life back on track to some extent.
