Imagine yourself sitting in a café, airport or any other place and with all your electronic gadgets drained out of power. This is not too hard to imagine as it has happened to all of us. Now if you let your imagination take a leap ahead and wonder that the chair that you were sitting on stores the energy produced and lets you charge your devices. Amazing right?
A concept design by Ryan Klinger, USA, consists of a flat –pack chair of tubes along with a foldable sling seat is on its way to turn your imagination into reality. The rocking functionality is wired to a gearbox, a DC generator, a voltage controller and a lithium battery. Additionally it comes with a red LED light depicting that the kinetic energy is being stored and a blue LED light showing that the power is being generated. The energy then is transformed by DC/AC inverter and further can be disturbed via a USB or a standard power outlet to charge up the electronic gadgets.
The chair is named as “The Empower Chair” and has already won second prize of the 18 shortlisted designs that were showcased at the Greener Gadgets conference 2010. The chair is crafted to be a possible option for airports and other such places where people spend hours on sitting arrangements.
