Renewable energy has become one of the fastest growing industries across the globe in the recent past. Tremendous sale volumes of the renewable devices are hinting that a change is just round the corner. In the global scenario, installed renewable electricity capacity has doubled since 2000. The overall contribution of the renewables to the total energy supply has also grown to at a remarkable rate.
U.S. in particular has transformed into a ground of change. Installed solar photovoltaic capacity grew more than 83% in the states. In 2012 US renewable firms generated enough electricity to power about 44 million homes. Half of the new electrical capacity installations in the U.S. accounts to renewable electricity. Renewables also contributed 14% to the country’s energy mix.
In India as of now, Coal and Oil dominates the energy mix. Renewables currently contributes only 6% of it. But there is another aspect to the energy situation of the nation. With growing awareness about the energy, people and organisations are now taking initiatives to contribute their bit towards the environment. There may soon be a day when we witness #EnergySecureIndia.
