Speed Bumps: Safeguarding you and the environment

Virginia in 2011 witnessed a unique new kinetic energy recovery device; Speed Bumps. In their official test of “Motion Power System”, New Energy Technology installed their innovation which is specially crafted to recover energy as the vehicles pass over it.

The mechanism behind these speed bumps is to capture kinetic energy and convert it into electricity. This is done when the vehicle passing over these bumps depress its special platforms.

These “rumble strips” generate enough energy that can power an electronic sign-energy. The energy which was produced in event that was held in Roanoke, where 580 cars passed over the rumble strip over the course was adequate to power a 150 square foot electronic billboard for an entire day.

So here we have a bump that not only breaks the lethal speeds of the vehicles but also lights up the billboards along the road. Possibilities with such kind of technology are endless as they can be used to power street lights, traffic signals or may be even electric cars some day.
