Finally Indian automobile sector is on its path to cleaner harbour. Westport innovations along with Tata Motors Limited have together launched a new natural gas engine. The new TATA 3.8L natural gas engine is forged to support many engine configurations.
Thomas Rippon, executive vice president of Westport quoted “By combining our unique technology and Tata’s leadership in India’s commercial vehicles market, we are able to introduce new natural gas products and target the mainstream transportation markets in one of the world’s fastest growing markets for natural gas vehicles.” He further added “The Westport WP580 offers breakthrough price, performance, and flexibility for OEMs allowing them to use this advanced technology even in cost-effective markets such as China and India.”
The engine is set to be applied to Tata’s5.7L engine aiming medium duty applications later this year. With such prominent moves we may one day find cleaner public as well as personal transport. These efforts would help the nation in its pursuit towards energy security.
