The land of the dragon is now planning on increasing the usage of natural gas so as to limit the carbon emission. In the process of cleaning things up, China is now concentrating on domestic exploration as well as hiking the import volume of the gas.
Coal still contributes about two-thirds of its energy mix and thus makes it world’s largest carbon emitter.
Increasing natural gas supply is the most feasible and practical solution to aggressively rising carbon footprints in China. The domestic companies are now focusing on increasing the supplies by investing more on exploration and import of the gas. Investment on infrastructure such as construction of pipelines and storage facilities is also under process.
China is also planning on natgas pricing reforms hence creating more space for the alternative energy source to sink in its energy mix.
