Australia faces oversupply of energy

As per a report from The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), Australia has over production of energy that has never been seen before.

Australia will produce up to 8,900 megawatts more than is needed for the next year, i.e., around four times the power produced in a year by Australia’s largest coal-fired power station.

A systematic fall in electricity usage in Australia has been observed for the last four years, which is being attributed to the take-up of rooftop solar systems, energy efficient appliances, and downturn in some manufacturing industries that has large energy consumption.
