We always strive to make a positive impact on our society. One of our major focus areas in this direction is education. We understand that quality education lays the foundation of a secure future for an individual as well as a community. Being one of the responsible corporates of the country, we value people and communities for whom we work. We have undertaken different projects under our CSR initiatives through which we have addressed issues like education, employment and health in backward communities. Lack of resources has always been a constraint for those who aspire to come forward and bring about a positive change in their communities.
Keeping this in mind, we launched “GAIL Utkarsh” in 2009 with an objective of imparting quality education to students living in economically backward sections in U.P and M.P and empower them to achieve their goals. Through “GAIL Utkarsh”, we offered scholarships to students who aspired to clear engineering entrance examinations. We designed this programme to ensure that deserving students are not denied opportunities to study at prestigious institutions like IIT and NIT due to financial constraints.
Since its commencement in 2009, “GAIL Utkarsh” has encouraged students to do well for themselves and their communities. In 2009, 122 students joined the program from different communities. But the numbers saw a surge in 2011-12, when a total of 4000 students showed interest and appeared in the written test. This huge participation inspired us to continue motivating students to follow their dreams and expand their potential.
Through endeavours like “GAIL Utkarsh”, we intend to design a better tomorrow for generations to come. Tomorrow is yours!
