Enabling Indian farmers to take informed decision

One of GAIL’s most satisfying interventions in education has been the E-Siksha programme; wherein computer labs have been set up in a self sustained, power equipped mobile Vehicle along with one qualified instructor and teaching aids. This has been implemented in Vijaipur and Pata as a pilot project, reaching computer education to government schools and facilitating these students to accomplish their regular computer school curriculum through this mobile computer aided labs. After school hours, these computer vehicles were available to the villagers of Pata and Vijaipur for the adults to take up a course in typing and basic computer literacy with the assistance of a trained instructor.

It is believed that educating farmers to harness the power of internet will definitely help them plan their crops, get better yield, and will allow them to sell at a better price.

With availability of internet at their disposal via mobiles and tablets, they are now up-to-date about agricultural meteorological forecast, allowing them to plan well in advance.
