REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE

This world environment day, take a pledge to Reduce, Reuse, and Re-Cycle. In today’s society, wasteful consumption is a commonality which all of us knowingly and unknowingly choose to indulge in. Small things such as leaving the lights on, not turning off the television – it all adds up. Who’s paying the price? The Earth and our future generations. Not all of us are indifferent,

A small percentage of our population chooses to live carbon neutral life- styles. These environmental heroes are setting the right example for the rest of us as individuals to follow.

We at GAIL believe in long-term sustainability and have invested heavily in Research and Development projects. All these projects are based on groundbreaking technologies such as utilizing methane gas produced from landfills and using it to produce power. Another initiative known as the Waste to Diesel project, extracts precious chemicals such as diesel, gasoline, and aromatic fractions. Our sustainability based outlook follows one of our core philosophies known as  ‘Care, Share & Grow’. This philosophy extends into other programs such as”TOMORROW IS YOURS” which is a television series based on improving conditions throughout rural India.

Our Waste to Energy project, which is based at the Ghazipur landfill captures excess methane, which is produced by waste that has piled up over the years. A section of the landfill has been covered with grass, the covered area has bore wells that reach deep into the landfill, where the methane gas is captured. The captured gas is upgraded from low-quality LPG (Landfill gas) to high-quality LPG, which is the transformed into energy using micro-turbines.

Similarly the Waste to Diesel project, extracts diesel and other precious chemicals from wasted plastic. This groundbreaking breakthrough is attributed to our Research and Development team. The process recycles the chemicals, which exists in everyday plastics. The project has already passed lab and Bench test and is currently being implemented into the pilot stage. The diesel that is recycled meets the internationally recognized standard of Euro-IV.

  1. The Ghazipur landfil project was a unique waste to energy project by GAIL.This has changed the ambience of landfil area. We should think of similar more projects near the other Metro cities.

  2. Light off during no requirement ,Less use of AC ,,while in well ventilated areas, Going by foot to your usual office, or market place, switch off fan during no requirement would lead to sustainable life, which would give remarkable benefit to future generation.
